About

Uta Arning studied Business in Germany and Japan and Film Directing at New York University Tisch School of the Arts Asia Singapore.
Her short films screened at numerous international film festivals.

THE PERFECT WOMAN, her second year project, received support from the German Embassy in Singapore and was invited to screen at the Directors’ Guild of America as a Wasserman Award Finalist.

During her studies, she had the opportunity to work with directors such as Oliver Stone, Roger Spottiswoode, Shekhar Kapur, and Todd Solondz.

SNOWCHILD was her first feature film. The film screened in competition at Moscow’s International Filmfestival in the Section “Perspectives” and was awarded with the “Special Diploma of Cinema Clubs” for an organic combination of comic and serious, with expressive non-trivial search. SNOWCHILD had its German premiere in competition at Filmfestival Max Ophüls, Saarbrücken, screened in the New German Films Section in Cannes 2012, and received the Jury Award at the Peace and Love Filmfestivalin Sweden. It was also presented at Asia Filmfest Munich as well as the Crime and Punishment Filmfestival Istanbul.
A cinema tour in Germany followed.

Uta is currently in development of a new feature film for which she has received a Screenplay fund from the region in Jönköping, Sweden and which won the script competition „Klyftan“ organized by the Swedish Film Institute and Film Fund West Sweden together with Göta Film. In 2015 she was awarded with a cultural stipend in Jönköping, Sweden. She is currently working as a guest lecturer teaching Film at Jönköping University.
